Summer Research Experience Program
The Groups Scholars Summer Research Experience Program prepares high-achieving incoming freshmen in scientific research by helping them develop basic skills in formulating questions, using field-specific tools, gathering and analyzing data, and communicating findings. Current graduate students, faculty, or other researchers in STEM disciplines at IU who are advancing knowledge in their respective disciplines mentor scholars.

We rely on faculty, postdoctoral researchers, Ph.D. candidates, and other researchers in STEM disciplines across the IU Bloomington community to mentor incoming scholars. The summer research program aims to introduce scholars to research and develop foundational skills for future research and academic experiences. Mentor support plays a vital role in retaining first-generation and underrepresented students in STEM at Indiana University.

Project Proposal Guidelines and ApplicationGroups STEM Mentoring Program
The Groups STEM Mentoring Program is open to all currently enrolled Groups students pursuing a STEM or Public Health major. Applications accepted on a rolling basis. Mentees and mentors admitted as space is available, at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters.
