IU Bloomington is a diverse campus community, one that gives students access to unique opportunities to help them excel personally and culturally. The six cultural centers at IU Bloomington focus on cultural awareness, cross-cultural competencies, programming, events, outreach, and advocacy.
As a way to provide a unique college living experience, IU Bloomington offers two kinds of on-campus learning communities—Living Learning Communities and Thematic Communities. Living Learning Communities provide funding, dedicated facilities, faculty leadership, staff support, and academic advising, as well as encourage students to explore academic, personal, and professional opportunities on and off-campus.
Thematic Communities are designed to bring students together in tight-knit, self-directed groups that focus on a particular subject or topic of interest. These communities may emphasize certain careers, culture, recreation, or social interests, with themes that include the performing arts, health sciences, and outdoor adventures.
With 700-plus student organizations on the IUB campus, students have plenty of opportunities to find groups of students who share their passions and interests. A database of student organizations searchable by category or keywords can be found at beINvolved.indiana.edu.
